'Destiny 2' release date, news, update, rumors: Xur and The Cryptarch to have bigger roles?

The details about the much anticipated sequel to "Destiny" have been very limited since the rumor broke that Bungie will be working on the 2014 hit first person shooter video game. However, interesting information coming from different sources on the internet has kept the gamers updated regarding the developments of the game. According to the most recent reports, players should expect big changes in the game, especially with some characters from the first game installment.

"Destiny" has featured non-playable characters (NPCs) such as The Cryptarch and Xur which the players will cross paths with eventually throughout the game. Being NPCs, they do not usually have a huge impact on the players' mission or quests, although they can do something beneficial for the players. As it is an integral part of the gameplay that players should go on different missions. These missions will send them to distant planets where the players have to face enemies while they retrieve important objects called the engrams. Once collected, The Cryptarch will be the one to decode the decrypted lines of messages on the engrams. Some engrams will bring a character upgrade reward, although some can also mean nothing, and that depends on the Cryptarch's decryption. Xur, on th eother hand, is a merchant character which the players can make a deal for great finds.

However, with the arrival of "Destiny 2," the players can expect a different and more important Cryptarchs, means would mean that they will be more than just a decoder of secret messages. Along with Xur, the Cryptarchs are in for an expansion, that is according to Bungie game director Scott Taylor in an interview with Games Beat.

"When I look at the universe of 'Destiny,' I see a lot of opportunity to tell stories about these characters that, you look at the Cryptarch and Xur, we don't know much about them, but they're cool characters," said Taylor. "I'm curious about them. I want to know more about the Cryptarch. He seems mean. What's going on with Xur? We're trying to create these opportunities, and then the expansions are a great place to live in."
