Destiny’s Moments of Triumph are back for a second year

Bungie is bringing back Destiny’s "Moments of Triumph," a group of in-game feats ranging from the perfunctory to the elite, to close out Year Two of the game, the studio announced today.

The news again came on July 7, which is Bungie Day, a holiday of the studio's creation that celebrates the company's fascination with the number 7. This year also marks Bungie’s 25th anniversary, and the studio produced a video of all its games (see below) to celebrate the special occasion.

Bungie introduced the Moments of Triumph a year ago, during Destiny’s inaugural year. Guardians who completed all 10 of the original Moments of Triumph before the debut of Destiny: The Taken King in mid-September received a unique emblem. This time around, Bungie is offering multiple tiers of Moments — each with its own set of rewards. The Year Two Moments of Triumph are available to all owners of The Taken King.

Players will receive new loot for every two challenges they complete. Those who can accomplish all of the feats by 10 a.m. PT on Sept. 20 — the release date for Destiny’s next expansion, Rise of Iron — will be able to buy a special, customizable T-shirt from Bungie commemorating the Moments of Triumph for Year Two.

The shirt is listed in the Bungie Store for $777,772.77, an amount that is likely a nod to Bungie Day. (We’ve reached out to Bungie to ask if the studio will actually sell the shirt at its listed price.) But Guardians who complete the new Moments of Triumph will receive a discount code that drops the price to $24.99. Customers can pay an extra $5 to customize it with their PlayStation Network ID, Xbox Live gamertag or a 16-character phrase of their choosing. The shirt will only be available to buy until Oct. 4.

Proceeds from purchases of the shirt and everything else in the Bungie Store will now go to a good cause. Bungie announced today that "100% of all 2016 Bungie Store profits will benefit the Bungie Foundation’s goal to reduce distress and suffering in children through entertainment." From now until 11:59 p.m. PT on July 13, any purchase in the Bungie Store will reward buyers with a code redeemable for the "7-7 Ad Infinitum" emblem in Destiny.
